One Garden Brighton is a newly redeveloped tourist destination, a walled garden, rediscovered, reinvented and opened to the public in 2021, seeing over 340,000 in our first summer season. One Garden Brighton features expertly designed gardens, One Kitchen, a place to eat and drink, One Market, retail space and plant sales, and One Events, offering small and large-scale community events. One Garden Brighton is a subsidiary of Plumpton College.

One Garden Brighton launched Easter 2021 and was warmly received by the Brighton and Hove community.  You will be integral to building this new business, shaping and influencing how the tourist destination is run. As Commercial Manager you will hold responsibility for all food and beverage operations at One Garden Brighton, managing the day to day operations of One Kitchen, pop-ups and a busy events programme.


Ahead of our re-opening for a new developmental year, this is a unique opportunity for an individual with entrepreneurial flair to build this exciting high-quality visitor attraction, on the edge of Brighton, which showcases different methods of horticulture, from herbaceous planting to growing fruit and vegetables, implementing a design from one of the creators of the Eden Project. You will lead our commercial business encompassing One Garden Kitchen, a place to eat and drink, One Garden Market, a retail space complete with plant sales, as well as developing our events and functions business.

 You will demonstrate the experience to effectively manage the day to day operations and grow our busy commercial food, gift retail and catering businesses, including working closely with our senior gardener to develop our own in house grown plant sales. You’ll need to be dedicated, hardworking, hands-on and a team player to be successful and will be supported by the wider One Garden Brighton team and senior colleagues from Plumpton College.


You will be responsible for the line management of the Head Chef, Market Manager and Supervisors with responsibility for overseeing the retail, catering and events operations including working with College teams, the Grounds & Gardens team and volunteers. Applicants are required to demonstrate experience of overseeing food and beverage operations.
