Thinking about getting into horticulture, for a new career or better skill your hobby?

This course, which is taken for half a year, has been designed to introduce students to horticulture and further develop any prior knowledge they may have. Once completed this course can help prepare students for a level 2 qualification or create confidence in finding work such as becoming a garden assistant or nursery assistant. 

This course includes units on:

  • Identifying plants
  • Preparing land for sowing and planting
  • Applying organic mulch
  • Watering techniques
  • Preparing and planting a container for display
  • Lift, divide and plant herbaceous perennials
  • Sowing seeds indoors
  • Propagation from stem cuttings
  • Potting up and on
  • Care for a planted area

This course could be FREE. If you are unemployed and in receipt of state benefits or working and your income is under £18,525 you could be entitled to financial support towards the course fees or even study for free.
