Slime Mould Sunday
10:00am — 3:00pm
10:00am — 3:00pm
Slime Mould Sunday is an immersive workshop dedicated to uncovering the fascinating world of Myxomycetes (slime moulds).
Taking place on multiple dates throughout the Spring season, the session runs from 10am to 3pm, and this hands-on event offers a deep dive into these extraordinary organisms. Learn how slime moulds behave, thrive, and interact with their environment, and create your very own slimearium to take home.
Whether you’re a seasoned naturalist or just looking for something different, this is a truly unique experience not to be missed.
The day begins with an engaging introduction to slime moulds, exploring their life cycles, behaviour, and practical uses, accompanied by stunning visuals of different species captured by macro photographer Max Mudie.
You’ll then head out on a guided Myxo Walk through Stanmer Park to locate and identify slime moulds in their natural habitats. Finally, the workshop concludes with a creative session where you’ll revive a dormant sclerotia (slime mould) and construct your own slimearium using recycled materials. Once active, your slime mould pet can be fed, monitored, and even filmed in action with a slimelapse (timelapse).
All materials are included in the workshop. You can purchase snacks and drinks at One Market (with your event day 10% off discount voucher), a water bottle, suitable footwear, and weather-appropriate clothing.
