THE OPPORTUNITY

One Garden Brighton is a beautiful walled garden rooted in the past and focused on the future. It is a redeveloped tourist destination, rediscovered, reinvented and opened to the public for the first time in spring 2021. One Garden Brighton features expertly designed gardens, One Garden Kitchen, a place to eat and drink, One Garden Market, a retail space complete with nursery, and One Garden Events offering small and large-scale community events. One Garden Brighton is a subsidiary of Plumpton College.

As the successful post holder, you will be integral to developing the business, shaping and influencing how the tourist destination will run. As Chef de Partie (CDP) you will work day to day under the direction of our Head Chef responsible for our commercial catering food production, operations and chefs’ team.  Unique for the industry this role is a day time role with occasional evenings to support pre- planned events on a rota basis.

THE ROLE

Your role will be to support the commercial outlet, One Kitchen, a place to eat and drink, including developing the menus and food offer, as well as supporting our busy events programme and developing our commercial functions and events business.

The temporary successful candidate will be a experienced CDP from a Hotel or restaurant background and be responsible for producing high quality dishes and menu items for the day to day operations of a busy commercial eatery and catering business. You will work closely with the Head and Sous Chef to ensure smooth cross working operations to maximise efficiency and best practice as well superb customer service.

You will be supported by the One Garden General Manger and the Wider One Garden Brighton team, as well as Plumpton College’s Head of Catering and Hospitality.

Owing to the temporary nature of this role, a seasonal retention bonus will be payable at the end of the successfully completed contract.

You will be a team player as part of the chef’s team, apprentices, Front of House Team, volunteers and students, sharing your passion for horticulture, great food and service and leading by example.
