How to create a personal road map to a more self-resilient way of life

A day to reflect, reset, and reimagine. Tools, mindset shifts, and practical ideas for building a more empowered life.

This one-day course is designed for anyone ready to rethink how they live, work, and connect. Whether you're feeling stuck, looking for change, or simply curious about more sustainable and self-reliant ways of living, this session offers a practical and inspiring introduction.

Taking place at One Garden Brighton from 9:45 AM to 4:30 PM, the day blends engaging presentations, open conversations, practical exercises, and some light-hearted, interactive activities. No previous experience is needed—just an open mind and a willingness to explore new possibilities.

We'll look at two real-world examples of people making powerful life changes and becoming more self-reliant. Alongside that, you’ll get the chance to reflect on your own goals and resources, map out a personal “life design,” and connect with others in a friendly, supportive environment.

Each participant will also receive a free copy of Tales of Power: Pathways in Self-Reliance by Andy Reynolds (worth £14.50) to continue the journey beyond the course.

What we’ll explore

  • Key elements for moving away from a consumer-driven life toward a more community-based, resilient one

  • Personal finance, debt, and ethical living

  • Skills development and life-long learning

  • Food, nutrition, and practical preparation

  • Slowing down, managing stress, and nurturing mental health

  • Creating strong support networks and lasting community connections

  • Using the internet positively to grow your skills

  • Building a life that reflects your values, one small step at a time
